Mercy of Christ Fellowship began as an answered prayer from members of Capitol Hill Baptist Church and Anacostia River Church, who longed to see a gospel-preaching church planted in their Ward 7 community. With a shared burden for the spiritual renewal of the area, these believers committed themselves to seeking the Lord’s guidance for a new church that would faithfully proclaim Christ crucified and risen.
In 2016, God began bringing that vision to life when Jeremy joined the staff at Anacostia River Church with a clear plan for church planting in Ward 7. Even before his arrival, groundwork had already begun—outreach efforts in October and November of 2015 helped engage the community and build relationships. As the church plant took shape, evangelistic events expanded in November 2016, sowing gospel seeds among local residents and laying the foundation for a faithful, Christ-centered congregation.
By 2017, the church had a formal plan in place for its official launch, and momentum continued to grow as more people were drawn into the vision. This season of preparation and discipleship ultimately led to a defining moment in 2018, when Mercy of Christ Fellowship covenanted together as a church, committing themselves to be a faithful, biblical witness in Ward 7.
From the very beginning, Mercy of Christ Fellowship has been rooted in prayer, evangelism, and discipleship, seeking to glorify God by making Christ known in their community. What started as a desire among a few has blossomed into a church dedicated to preaching the Word, loving their neighbors, and equipping believers for the work of the ministry. Through God's grace, they continue to serve as a shining light in Ward 7, proclaiming the mercy of Christ to all who will hear.
